"Tribes have also been announced as main support to The Kooks on the UK leg of their upcoming Autumn tour" - hardly a ringing endorsement.

also they have appeared from almost nowhere, is this a band that's getting a big push from promoters etc rather than being talented?

They have also supported Mystery Jets and The Pixies, so thats a pretty good endorsement. I recently heard The Kook's first album and its pretty good in my opinion.

No, they started out promoting themselves by word of mouth, handing out demos to friends. They got spotted by Mystery Jets then and got picked up the NME around the new year which gave them a bit of publicity. I wouldn't say they appeared out of nowhere, they have just recorded some great songs.

I saw them play in Camden a few months back..gig was great..'We were children' is a great ould track...felt a wee but old tho (at 28!!) and wasn't dressed in the stonewash attire and docs like the entire audience was! Worth seeing tho, good fun

I have a memory of the actor for Doctor Who recommending them on Gonzo. Whether or not he did, that's how I found them.

The lyrics suck and the music is rather cheesy with the whole "anthemic" thing. It wouldn't be amiss to describe them as bread and butter indie. The lead singer's pretty annoying too.

Still though, they are fücking great :D
