New wheels for the turf eater

    Right,

I'm changing the wheels on my vRS as I'm not their greatest fan. It's currently got 18's and that's the limit in terms of size because I cover a lot of road (and I can swap the tyres over being a cheap git and all:D). There is no way in hell I'm lowering it either as it's not practical with my use:(

    This is the car:

I have a limit of about €800 for the wheels. If they're secondhand they need to be mint. I had my own wheels refurbed because of a few tiny scratches from the previous owner. They are 5x112 ET51 if that helps anyone.

So far this is in the lead:

Any suggestions? I'm open to almost anything really, looking for new ideas as opposed to following the herd by going BBS. Plus I'm getting very little work done trying to decide.

    TIA

The ones I'm thinking about getting are ET44 5x112. Even got Gary to show me some in Urban saturday to try and find something different.

I'd think Jap style wheels will look a bit off on your car...I probably wouldn't even put BBS on it to be honest.

BBS seems to be the done thing on VAG cars. Bit over done really. Found this pic and it's the wheels I'm veering towards.

I just don't think they suit the lines of the Octavia :(

Well it's bloody hard to modify something with the aesthetic appeal of a fridge:D

Modifying is never hard...doing it right, is ;)

Most BBS wheels are sharp edged and straight, and so suit most of the VAGmobiles with rough edges and 'square' shape...the Octavia is just round and awkward :pac:

I reckon some OEM optional alloys are in order, if possible

You need dish and more low

I have the OEM optional alloys already:( Skoda are pretty crap when it comes to wheel options above 17 inches. There was a limited edition vrs that had Monza R's but they were too soft and a lot had to be replaced so that options out too.

I'm thinking you should spray them black, then offset the look with red wheelnuts to suit the calipers, or get blue nuts and spray the calipers too? Just a cheaper option

I can't figure out if you're serious or not.

Small details work, same as on my car...my intake cup is blue, wheelnuts are blue and so are the calipers, works well I thought.

I seriously can't think of anything better for your car...not much options

    I'm thinking Enkei RPF1's may...MAY work!

Lets narrow down what kind of wheels you like.

    This?

A set of Ultralite Battles would look well on it, funnily enough..... :pac:

I like the wheels from the first post there, maybe in a grey rather than silver, I'd like to see a darker wheel against your car

I dunno they just dont sit right, Lowering might do it, but not an option as you say....

    Powder coat the OEM's ?

LM's were my first thought tbh as I haven't really seen them on another vRS. The suggestion got a resounding no however, plus my budget will only stretch to reps:( The Savoys (think that's the first one) on that car look well, but it's lowered, has modified arches and they are 20's. In saying that I do like 5 spokes.

Hate the look of them if I'm honest.

They look alright, especially in grey. Any idea where would stock them in Ireland?

Well their site says they only come in 17's and PCD 5x114.3...plus they are cheaper than what you quoted me too:p

Grey VZ's might be an option now.

Bit too dark for my liking. Have gotten a price from wheel wizards if I wanted to do that of €330 which isn't too bad though.

Also have the option of new 17" versions of my own at a good price with tyres. Not gone on the look but they will make it smoother and have brand new tyres.

Id got with BBS speedlines if you can find them in 18" more common in 19's

They are nice alright. Trying to find them in budget would be very hard. The 19's on Vagdrivers would blow it out of the water. Was speaking to Keith on alloy-wheels.ie earlier about the VZ's and he said they'd be the best value.

From what I can make out these are the wheels. If I was to lower it slightly I'm thinking that they would suit it well.
