Got mine in 10 working days last month, once it's received should be straight forward processing & mail to new owner.

Got mine within 5 days. Check with the last owner and ask for any proof of posting. Sometimes registered post is worth it for valuable documents.

There are hundreds of thousands of registration certs being sent to Shannon every year, if everyone sent them by registered post the staff down there would do nothing all day except sign for incoming letters.

Sending something by registered post slows it down.

When did he say he sent it? August wouldn't be the busiest month of the year for car sales so I'd imagine if he sent it two weeks ago you'd have it by now, I got mine 6 days after it was posted to Shannon, that was back in May/June.

Type in the reg again later, and tomorrow and the day after, if there's no sign of a transfer on the website by next Monday I'd start to get worried.

Technically yes, but if you didn't use it for the rest of the month you could go to the Garda station and get the month skipped.

You have to tax it from the day you buy it/use it...

Edit: Sorry it's the "Transferred to an Individual" date you should be looking at.

Yeah you can fill out this form

    https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/pdf/RF100A_en.pdf

Enter in when it was last taxed, then the period that it wasn't used (only in your owners ship so that would be 09-2011 to 09-2011

Then new tax dis required (if you're going for three months) would be First day of the 10-2011 to last day of 12-2011.

Hand it to the Garda and he or she will stamp it for you.
