So far, this year seems to have been an unmitigated disaster for these insects. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?

I have 2 nests of bumble bees around the garden that I hadn't been aware of any other year.

I havent noticed many bees, but i cant believe the amount of wasps that have been around.
I have had to have 2 wasps nest removed from the attic in the last 8 weeks.
and neighbour also had 2 nests on the side of his conversion

Absolute bumber year for Bumble Bees and Wasps. Not so good for many Butterfly species however.

dont see any difference in wasps or bumble bees, plenty around.

have seen quite a few speckled woods, but not many others.

I think it may be different depending on area. Plenty of both here, loads of Large White egg batches on my brassicas though less Small White :)

Huge numbers of Ringlet & Meadow Brown and good numbers of Common Blue.

We have a small part of our garden with mostly plants to attract/feed butterflies and bees
last year we had a lot more butterflies and bees.I think it was just not warm enough.
There is loads of wasps probably the same as usual as with spiders indoors.
At last the kids call me to move the spiders still alive instead of killing it with a shoe then calling me to get rid of the poor dead spider
