There were many Lancer models, a year would be handy too.

    Something like this please.. http://www.carzone.ie/search/Mitsubishi/Lancer/1.5.-INT/201135204184382/advert?channel=CARS

    Wants:
    Low maintenance
    Low tax
    Sometimes travel long distance
    Need space for one child
Keep car for approx 4 years
Likes to have newer models.. due to status pressure from colleagues :) (joke)
but more serious of lower road tax rates..

    Budget:
    Less than 8000
    Does on 20 KM/ day

    Trade in:
Honda Civic - Year 99- Hopes to get 2000 € for it.

    Dont want:
Issues like some European cars or
High maintenance cost like German built.

I drove lancers for years - still love them. I found them economical and mostly reliable. They all had issues with the battery going completely flat if interior lights on for an hour or two and I did find parts difficult to get and expensive if bought from main dealers- especially when the car was a Japanese import.

However, if I was changing car tomorrow - I'd get a Lancer.

1.5 would cost 452eur a year in the old system. Why not go for a 06 and save some money? You're only doing 20km a day, that's 7000kms a year. Even if you do a few longer trips, that's not much mileage wise.

Just to keep some money in your pocket. This car is 5,900, http://www.carzone.ie/search/Mitsubishi/Lancer/1.6-COMF/201110201531362/advert?channel=CARS&featuredListingClickThru=true

one year warranty and an auto. Only 50k on the clock too. You'd probably get it for 4.5k with a trade in?

Thanks barura and Bannasidhe.. appreciate your advice :)
I have to say.. I like new shape of Lancer.. with Shark style..
also it does seem more spacious from older models..

Actually, why are Lancers so cheap? Seems like the one i posted is a steal! If I was in the market I'd seriously consider that one!

Seems a bit expensive compared to this one:

Just to take note if you have a buggy for the child, that the boot opening is narrow on the saloon. Hatchback only appeared in late 2009 so probably outside of your budget.
