Can't connect hard drive to tv

Hi, I bought a 500GB Seagate Expansion portable hard drive. Initially I thought it wasn't compatible on my Macbook because I couldn't transfer anything onto it, but I learned that I could format it to work with it. I formatted it successfully and I can transfer files to and from it.

The problem is that when I connect it to the USB2 port in my Samsung TV an error message pops up saying 'new device not found/usb2 power overload'.

When I connect it to the USB HDD port the TV just doesn't do anything.

    Any help would be appreciated!

You might need to check which way you formatted it. I'm no expert on Macs, but I think they'll recognize FAT32, but it wouldn't be their default. The TV prob won't recognize a native MAC filesystem. HTH.
