Myself and a few friends are looking to go somewhere in late October or early November on a training holiday somewhere warm

Currently looking at La Manga Club in Spain.

Has any one been here or would they recommend anywhere else?

Neve been to La Manga, but have been to Club La Santa, Lanzarote a few times, always feel invigorated coming back - huge fitness/sports programme...

    www.clublasanta.co.uk

A bit remote but not too far a drive from the bigger busier resorts if you want to see a bit of nightlife while you're there

Would love to do this with a couple of mates - train hard for a week in warm weather... if you don't mind me asking how much approx. did it cost per person?

We (couple) went both in summertime and springtime so price varied, but we got for about €700-€900 self/catering for 2 of us, 10 days there.. not including flights, but got them reasonably enough with Ryanair.

Bigger discounts for group bookings I think, as you can get bigger apartments...so best to enquire with them directly (via the UK - they were cheaper than the agents we enquired with here)... I would recommend it, there is something for everyone..:)

The Murcia region is quite wet in October and November. Can be cool at night too. Even during the day it can be changeable in November. If that was a problem may be worth considering the Canaries where you should be pretty much guaranteed dry warm weather.

Thanks - any recommendations? Are we still talking €700+ pp?

Why not just find a hotel with/close to a decent gym. Then you could hit the gym everyday and enjoy the sun without the huge price tag.

Spent a summer in San Diego. Loved walking to the gym in the morning and then panning out for the rest of the day.

Did La Manga off season a few years back, was dead, spent a load on taxis trying to find places that were open and to nearest big town for nightlife.

Went to Malta (Intercontinental Hotel) in May...

We started each day early enough with pancakes/fruit/eggs and coffee, a couple hours chilling by the pool on the roof then down to the gym for a couple hours. It was class, fully kitted with cybex equipment, studio classes of various descriptions, squat racks, plenty of bars etc... they'd blend you up a shake at the minibar after.. that left afternoon onwards free feeling fresh for sightseeing/steaks/epic quantities of cocktails and general messing around the island.

    I'd definately go back

Seems very expensive though, COH! Cheapest I'm getting there is 100 a night. Although, I've stayed in an intercontinental before, and it was probably dearer (Park Lane, London!)

My cousin did that before, went over and did Mauy Thai for a 2 month stint. Cheap as chips!

There was also a boards user who did that aaaages ago. He used to be a regular here around 2007, I think his name was millionaire. He had a blog and all detailing everything about it.
