I had nankang in the past.
Pulling away on wet roads at roundabouts, wheel spin and not taking off hard, wouldnt trust them in the wet, had to take it really easy on corners or even roundabouts, could feel them starting to skid. I had no confidence in them.
I wouldnt recommend them or westlake or chengsan
I'd never go for the cheapest tyre, although I got some Nokians (not sure how recognised they are, but were cheap and they were much better than any of the previous tyres)

Unless you are taking it really handy, drive slowly and not very far,
I got the cheapest firestones and the difference is huge, I'm still waiting to wear down a pair of cheap tyres on the back so can freplace them with firestones.

it might depend on the model of tyre? but if they are the very cheapest, then I know I would stay clear, perhaps they do quality tyres too? but for 15 per tyre extra I got the above firestones.

Are you sure they are 170 for 2? They look to be closer to the 95 euro + carriage.
I had Nankangs before on a Golf and they weren't particularly confidence inspiring in the wet.
For not much more you can get a better class of tyre.
I would think the Coopers would be a bit better than Nankangs but YMMV.
Personally I fitted BFG AT tyres 3 years ago and they still have over 50% tread left. More expensive certainly but long lasting deffo.

I found this website to be excellent. They have user reviews plus on the rhs of the page they have all the auto magazine test results. I ended up buying Nokian 225/50/17 from eiretyres (front for ford S-max) and although havnt put much mileage on, the wet grip sofar is very good.

Thanks for all the replies, I've chosen to avoid them.

Ordered two Bridgestone today, from Roundabout Tyres, Walkinstown. Great price and better to spend the money here I suppose!

I can get them ex VAT, only £10 delivered. But opted not to go for it.

consider putting AT tyres on a 4x4 most claim to give up 50K miles.
road tyres are best suited to cars.

    camskill are great for tyres
I got 5 Cooper Discovery ATR's shipped to my door last year for 550 euro.

agree with all of the above.

tyres are the only things keeping you on the road, dont buy the cheapest you can get.
