Appropriate Adult, ITV1...

    Anyone watching this?
Two-part dramatisation of the Fred West murder case starring Dominic West (no relation :D ) as the notorious murderer (a role he really pulls off) and Emily Watson as the title character Mrs Leach who acted as an overseer for West during police interviews.
As usual with ITV dramas the sets and costumes are very well done and the overall tone is foreboding and gritty, which given the material is probably apt.

This raised some controversy among the West family who criticised the portrayals of their father and mother...

Wasn't bad. Forgot how disastrous the ads on ITV are though.

The ads really do mess up a drama - the show was great though. Dominic West as an affable serial killer was impressive.

Didn't it seem odd to put someone with no experience in the appropriate adult position?

I thought it was brilliantly acted and very well done.
There were way too many ads though - that drove me mad.
    I'll be watching next Sunday.

Ads...meh, that's what the mute button is for or a quick browse of rolling news. Since canceling sky I've been watching a lot more of the various ITV channels...since it's free to air ads are your way to pay. They do tend to kill off continuity and decrease enjoyment but at least they've not taken up the US model (yet).

ITV's crime drama is very well done for the most part...they get so much background detail in...this could have benefitted from more of the actual murders being portrayed perhaps rather than jumping straight to the arrest/investigation and court...but maybe they want to be as accurate as possible and reenacting the murders would have to draw from conjecture and would no doubt add further upset to the lives of victim's families...

It was the right decision to knock down that creepy, disgusting house.

Why didn't they give Janet Leech more support from a psychologist or a psychiatrist or someone? She had no experience of being in such a hugely difficult situation. Poor woman. She should have got much better treatment from the authorities. It is bound to have disturbed her state of mind. Shame on those who didn't consider her needs during her exposure to such an evil criminal.
