Found myself on a bit of a Kittie buzz today while on a stupidly long bus ride, so when I got home I decided to do a little youtubing. Turns out they released a new record about a week ago called I've Failed You. Has anyone heard it yet? And if so, what's the verdict?

I've gotten to give the record a few quick spins since posting this thread. I'm quite impressed so far. Not a huge advance from their Into The Black album, but then again, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Here's the first single from the new record:

I'm a huge fan of female-fronted metal and all girl bands in general but Kittie have always struck me as as bit dull. I have a couple of their albums and there's maybe two songs in total out of both albums that I would class as worth a repeated listen. Specifically regarding the album In The End, the songs seem to be paced too slow with basic, predictable guitar work. The clean vocals were lacking any strength and even with studio processing were close to being out of tune and the growled/screamed vocals just seemed to be out of place with the songs altogether.

I've always been a big fan of them myself (except for the Funeral For Tomorrow... or Yesterday, or whichever the name of that record was). I got into them back when they first released Spit, which admittedly ain't a great record, but I've got some great memories attached to it from my teens, so I still spin it occasionally. They seem to have come along greatly since then. I've been spinning the new one all day now, and I'm really enjoying it. We Are The Lamb, Ulgy, and Time Never Heals are the stand-out songs for me so far. Also the title track is great, though a bit short.

Didn't know they were still going. Lost interest a few years back, so doubt I'll bother checking this one out.
