Unmarked Plane in Dublin

    Hey

I was out in the airport yesterday and I noticed an unmarked plane parked up. It was completely white and looked like an Airbus A330. From where I was on the old airport road I am nearly sure it had 4 engines so I was confused. Any ideas what exactly it is and who its for?

    Thanks
    FM

If it had 4 engines it is most likely an A340, very unusual to see around Dublin.

It has already been repainted from its Gulf Air livery into the all-white scheme, so I doubt it is due to get another coat!

I flew out of Dublin yesterday and the A340 is still there and completely white.
Maybe Aer Lingus could use it in the mean time. :D

Was on the M50 at 17.00 and saw it take off. Took me a while to work out what it was. Luckly the car in front didn't brake hard:D

    Just as a question.....
do they strip off the GF livery before reapplying the all white or is the current all white on top of the GF livery?

I assume that multiple costs of paint could affect its performance...

Not so much on the airframe I wouldn't think but on the likes of the rudder the weight of the paint has to be taken into account

Normally, they do remove the old paint when repainting a plane.

If they didnt, the added weight would affect fuel economy.

I have watched every episode of Airline and Airport they ever produced and this was included !

The Fuselage will either be abraded(sanded) down or chemically stripped of the old paint, given a good wash, then primed(basically a protective undercoat)that green colour you see on aircraft before there painted, then the white coat on top.

Seen it on Thursday 1st of sept parked on the left of a AA 767, a nice surprise for me as all I ever see is the Ethihad 330. Why was the 767 parked up?

The AA was the rome flight which diverted here with a medical emergency. It then overnighted as the crew ran out of hours.
