    What is your D drive?
A partition on a hard drive?
    A second hard drive?
    An optical drive?
    A USB drive?
    A mapped network drive?

You will have to be a little more specific before anyone can help you.

Assuming its the D:\ drive the manufacturer partitioned for you it could be you accidentally deleted the parition or a drive letter conflict/dodgy hard drive.
Right click on computer/my computer in xp in the start menu>Manage and choose disk management. Does the drive appear there? If it does right click on the drive and choose change drive letter, pick one thats unused, ie H: for example. See if it returns. If the partition was deleted, well the data is probably gone, and overwritten at this stage, not all will be but certainly if youve been using the pc allot some could have been overwritten

If a partition has been deleted, and shows as unallocated space in DiskManager, and you had some irreplaceable files there, you can probably retrieve them with data recovery software, like GetDataBack or R-Studio. There are many threads on this forum about data recovery.
