The European Championships are just 4 weeks ahead of London....
just wondering will all the top irish athletes compete in the europeans ??? or will they be in training for london ??? would they not be using the europeans as a european circuit race and to sharpin up for london ???
and will all the top europeans being defending their titles ??

Hard to know. Personally I do not agree with the Europeans being on during Olympic year. It is a hugely prestigious competition to everybody in Europe and putting it on during an Olympic year just devalues its prestige. The fact that some athletes will no doubt skip it will also devalue people's achievements in winning medals.

Seems like a silly idea alright to have it so close to the Olympics. My guess is that most of the top athletes will skip them and those who aren't going to the Olympics for whatever reason, will go to the Europeans.
