    Hey all,

I am heading to Thailand Koh Pengnan for the Full Moon Party on the 8 th of January (part of an 8 week trip round asia before heading to Oz)
Does anyone have any good recommendations for somewhere to stay?
I want to experience the craziness of the party but I dont want to be stay right beside it in case I feel like some sleep! Was thinking of stay the 6th, 7th, 8th , 9th and 10th (alot of places have a 5 day minimum stay) close to the Haad rin area.

Or I was looking at the Coco beach resort of Lime n soda bungalows?

The is two of us (two girls)
    Cheers
    H

The two times ive been to the full moon i have stayed in Haad Rin. I had no trouble with any noise or getting to sleep any night. First time i stayed in Tommy Resort.

Its the best resort along Haad Rin to stay in but its very expensive.

Second time i stayed in Sea Garden. http://www.phangan.info/seagarden/index.htm

Nice place to stay but no pool, I stayed in a bungalow with no fan was cheap enough if i remember correctly but was super hot waking up the next morning with no ac. Id recommend staying here but getting a bungalow with air con. Email them and book early and im sure that they give you a better rate then what is on their website.

Stayed in Lime n' Soda in June. Highly recommended. You are right on the beach, there is a great atmosphere around the place too. Cabins are basic but what more do you want. Pay the small bit extra for air con.

Beach front bar is good and on site restaurant does good cheap food. They run taxi's to the full moon beach (take about 20 mins) on the night of the party.

If I remember rightly the min stay was less than 5 nights. Get to Koh Tao afterwards and do some diving. It was my favourite part of the holiday. (I did it with scuba junction, they were excellent)

Let me know if you want any more info!

Drop Inn Resort is a 5 minute walk from the beach which is very little, but is far enough away that you can't hear any noise from the beach at night.

Delight resort is also quite nice, and closer to the beach.

Do not stay in Coral Bungalows as it is quite far out from Haad Rin, but make sure to go to the pool party there (on every night).

I would recommend not going straight to Koh Tao after the full moon unless you have your accommodation for there booked in advance aswell. I went to Koh Samui after the full moon, and wa stold by people I knew in Koh Tao that there were loads of people who could not get any accommodation because so many people went there to 'relax' after Koh Phangan.

We stayed up north a little and the accom. was deadly but a little expensive for thailand

€20 for a beach cabin(sleeps 2 people), very spacious, would highly recommend!

You'd need a taxi from here to haad rin though

OP If you can rejig your dates I would suggest trying to make the New Years Full Moon Party on 31st Dec. Apparently it is the full moon of all full moons (which would be insane!) There's also another on Christmas Day and another on 10th December this year!

Last year I stayed in Haad Rin on the quieter side (10-15 min walk to party beach) in a place called Friendly resort. Nice place with pool, good menu, cool people. This year I stayed much further north on the island to get away from the mess that is Haad Rin. I got a taxi down for the full moon shenanigans of course but Haad Rin is really more like Ibiza uncovered or one of them shows that you'd see on Sky with tonnes of mouldy tourists falling all over the place.

Full moon is great crack and a total spectacle but it's not representative of the real, beauty that Thailand's known for and in my opinion it's better to be able to stay somewhere nice and just pop down to the madness when you want rather than live in it....but as they say....UP 2 YOU! :)
