I have something that might put a smile on all your faces

This morning i went out to get the paper and i noticed the gate was open to our backyard,i thought this was strange.....

I went to close it but i instead went in back and just happend to look down the basin (basement window) and guess what i saw there?

A Beautiful toad, she must have accidently jumped in.... There is no way she would have gotton out,she would have died........

They say things happen for a reason and i agree! (If the gate wasnt open i wouldnt have gone back there)

I picked her up,gave her a kiss and put her down and she started jumping towards the other basin so i picked her up and brought her all the way round back of the house to the other side and placed her behind my room where there was a little flower bed kinda thing.... Before i did though i said to her "You gotta be more careful sweetie, next time i might not be around if you get in a jam" and i gave her a couple kisses and placed her on the ground.....

I havent seen a toad since @ least last year, she is beautiful and i feel good inside..

I love animals and i try to show my love to every animal form (Even our own which is the meanest on earth (Killing for no reason, etc))

I often try to help insects if they fall into our pool, etc and it makes me feel good inside! (I value all life the same as our own animal species)

Several weeks ago i found a fly in our kitchen,i dont know where she came from, she looked like she was hurt or something......

I tried to warm her up as WARM AIR helps alot..... Another time a BEE was just about dead and i rescued her from the pool (last year) and i brought her downstairs and put her on top of the clothes dryer and turned it on.......

Within 5 minutes of her getting the warmth from the dryer SHE SPRUNG ALIVE!! -- She flew off somewhere in the basement and it made me feel good... Unfortunetly the other night i couldnt help the fly,she died while on the dryer getting warm.......

At least i tried and thats what make a difference..... Many people dont care about Insects, other animals (not human) like they do thier own kind and its sad...... Many think HUMANS are more important than any other animal AND IT JUST ISNT SO....... (We are all equal, the only entity above us are SPIRITS)

Could it have been a Frog? Unlikely to be a Toad. Where do you live?

When one contributes to an Irish nature forum, this is a key bit of info :)
Unless it's mentioned we assume sightings are in Ireland. :)

Great to read that Dude111 !

Im another soft touch ..... I try to save at least one insect every day .
Always picking flies/insects out of the water filled wheel barrow out the back , with the most gentle care , i keep the light dim at the kitchen window so the moths dont die , go to great lenghts to free flies and wasps from the windows in work , feed about 40 feral pigeons before I eat my breakfast , leave a rasher out for the fox at night and have been feeding a family of slugs every night for the last few years .
I cant break a spider web and opt to work around the little critters even though they freak me out !

Although im not a complete vegetarian , I rarely choose to eat meat/fish and my lunch is shared with the birds more often than not .

Thats my daily contribution , and any other opportunity that i encounter will be met in a similar fashion . eg stay lost or injured animals .
    Come winter-time , I step it up a little .

Boy that's overkill! Very laudable actions certainly but most Spiders build a new Web every day, so never fear about breaking one. Feeding slugs is totally unnecessary (I love how you refer to them as a family when slugs preform no parental duties!). I don't consider feeding feral pigeons as contributing to our native wildlife and, indeed, it can lead to unnatural competition for our wild birds. But keep up the good work - you have a kind heart obviously. :)

I wouldn't go kissing toads if I were you, OP; some species secrete toxins from their skin that could make you very ill.

I assume thats is for proetection right? They put the toxins out when they feel fear??

That's right, but unfortunately a toad doesn't know the difference between you and a predetor. I'd recommend not kissing them and washing your hands after holding one.

    Yes i know.....

Almost everytime i pick one up they always pee!! (Must be scared... Not trying to scare them)

Washing my hands IS A MUST after holding one!
