First off try going into settings > wi-fi and check that it is enabled.

If it is and it looks like you're connected (the tick will be beside your network) then click on the network (the blue arrow beside the name) and choose the first option, "Forget this network".

If it doesn't look like you're connected or that doesn't work then try a hard reset (hold the power button until it asks you to swipe and turn it off, which you should do). Turn it back on and try to reconnect again.

If all of that doesn't work go into Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. But be warned you will have to re-enter your wireless keys etc. so have those to hand.

    Thanks for that Brophs,
When I try and connect it does pick up my Eircom Wireless, as in I get the blue tick beside it, but the blue tick only stays there for a few seconds, should i still go ahead and press "Forget this network"? ... when what Im actually trying to do is connect to it???

    Thanks Brophs!

try connect to it and then hold the sleep and home buttons together till the apple appears on screen and see does it work then, i had awful trouble getting my iphone 4 to stay connected to that useless router

Yep. Forget it and then try to reconnect to it. Sometimes that sorts the problem.
