issue with ink cartridge refilled in a shop

I brought my hp ink cartridge into a local half price ink shop and had it refilled for me but my printer is still saying that it is low on ink and when it prints it looks as though its running out, not very reliable etc.

Can anyone tell me if this is common? Should I go back to the shop, or is it the printer thats the problem ?

    :)

Some printers you need to reset the ink level counter when you get a refill, did the shop give you any intsructions regarding this? If that isn't possible with your printer model number then bring back the ink and inform them to reset the chip (most printers estimate the ink levels and use a chip to do this, if the chip isnt reset it will probably stop printing even if full of ink ).
Your better off buying remanufactured cartridges than refills from my expierience, check out JustMedia or Inkjet. Not affiliated with either just used them, just media moreso plenty of times and they are good

Thanks nick! No unfortunately the shop didn't tell me how to do this. It's a hp 1050 printer so maybe I'll be able to find info online for it, if not I should bring it back?

Thanks for the info, I might think twice about getting refills in future it's just they were so much cheaper!

Bring it back and ask them, googling that model doesn't bring up any immediate results. Also look at the sites I linked to, compatibles are generally much more relyable and cheaper than the original,

    Hi!
At first - you can't reset HP cartridges. There is no chip. There is electrics on the cartridge print head. When you put original cartridge first time in, printer will change the information on electric part on the cartridge. And when it goes low or empty you can't change those readings from electrics. You kinda need just live with it and ignore low ink warnings. If the cartridge will not print then you should go back to the shop and ask them to run a test page, replace the cartridge or get your money back.
