Howdy all! I have a full Class B drivers licence. I want to get into salvaging old cars for personal use so the best way to do this is with a flat bed lorry. What I would like to know is, how much more difficult is it than getting a car licence? And does the 6 month rule apply? Do I get a different learners permit or do I still have the same licence with the lorry part restricted?

Thanks for your time! This forum was a great help when I was learning to drive in the first place, now I'm interested in filling up the rest of it now. :D

    1. u have to pass theory test for C category 40 questions.
    2. apply for learner permit for C or C1 (Id recommend for C as it covers both C and C1.)
    3. learn to drive
    4. Pass a driving test.
    5. apply for driving licence (u will have to give them back both full B and green C and they will send you back full licence with C category and B and whichever u have there before. :)

u are excluded of doing CPC theory and practical tests unless you want to do them. anyway your type of driving is not for commercial etc.. so u just need a theory and driving test i think
Certain drivers in the bus and truck licence category are exempt from the changes; can you give me examples of who is exempt?Drivers of vehicles for non-commercial purposes eg. driving as a volunteer, drivers of emergency or rescue vehicles, drivers of vehicles while delivering driving instruction, drivers of vehicles used by a driver in the course of his/her work provided that driving the vehicle is not the drivers principal occupation e.g. A plumber who uses a light truck to transport his/her materials would not require a Driver CPC. A driver of a truck delivering cement would require a Driver CPC.
