Buy or Rent Tux For Debs

    Hey Guys,

I've got two debs to go to in just under a month

I'm wondering would I be better off to just buy myself a tux and use it for both or would it be cheaper to rent out a tux twice

I wonder would I get away with renting a tux once and using it twice because the two debs are only 5 days apart, or do you have to bring the tux back nearly straight away if you rent it?

I haven't had a chance to get out and look at prices to rent or buy a tux yet but if anyone can fill me in on what it costs that would be great

    Thanks

I rented one and it was taken out on a morning, and returned 2 days later so I got three days of it. Cost 150 for the works... included corsage, choccy's, shoes, etc...

For me to buy the same suit (minus the waistcoat) would have cost me 340....

I didn't buy because I figured, I have two suits, and the only time I reckon I'll wear a tux again is when I get married. Great to be able to say you own a tux though! Haha

I do know Blacktie do some debs tuxes for 90 rental with a 30 refundable deposit.

I bought mine, still using it. Though I may have gone to the university where it is often said of the students that they own a tux before they do a suit.

I know blacktie do a fair few ex rental deals, I know a friend who picked up one for under 200 a few years back.

It's definitely been worth my while. If you aren't the type to ever go to a ball again, I wouldn't bother, but if you're going to college after, there's probably gonna be a ball or two a year (many do just wear suits to those).

If you're going to college you're better off buying. It only takes a small amount of uses for it to be cheaper than buying. Rentals are usually pretty poor quality too.

    +1 buy.

try guineys, m&s and debenhams. All have good value from time to time and you'd be surprised, you can get suit in guineys for around €50 if lucky.

A tux is a great buy if you see any more than a single black tie event coming up in the next year.

Firstly, they all look the same so you don't have to wear that much money at all to get one.

Secondly, because it's yours you can make sure it will fit just right.

Thirdly, having a tux in the wardrobe enables one to accept very, very last minute invitations to black-tie affairs. Those sort of invites are the best sort of invites. Guaranteed fun. :)
