Vectra C sterring rack sensors

The power steering fault light recently came on in my car and the steering was losing power intermittently. Brought the car to the garage who decided the issue was the steering pump. They replaced the pump for €150 euro however the day after picking up the car the steering lost power again and light appeared in the dashboard.

The garage have now diagnosed the issue as possibly a sensor on the steering rack. Previously i have replaced the steering rack on my car so i still have the old one. Its been siting outside for the best part of a year.

Would it still be possible to reuse the sensors from this steering rack? If not any recommendations on where i could find new or second hand ones (at a good price of course! )

    Thanks

It could be the torque angel sensor in the steering rack. If you replace it make sure they programme it. I know VW's need to be reprogrammed anyway..

the guys in the garage replaced the sensor and no joy. The garage is not an official opel dealer. Can i rely on there ability to re program or does it need to be done in Opel dealer? thanks

It depends on what diagnostic equipment they have. Snap-on Solas will do the job. If they haven't anything decent just bring it to Opel or something.

As above, If they have fitted the sensor but don't have the equipment to program it then there will be no change in the symptoms.

Thanks your suggestions were correct. Steering is now working again, the garage have done necessary programming. I haven't collected the car yet but the mechanic said that although the power steering is working again the warning light stays constantly on. He mentioned that the component responsible for the light needs replacing. I have to call in tomorrow to get the exact details.

Is the sensor responsible for triggering this light easily replaced?
