Swimming off Fairview/Eastpoint

I work in Eastpoint a few days a week and I was wondering whether anyone had any views on the water quality (for swimming) in the area between Eastpoint & Fairview - http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Dublin,+Ireland&hl=en&ll=53.358466,-6.223669&spn=0.012345,0.038409&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=33.572881,78.662109&vpsrc=6&z=15

I know there's a water sports centre on the bit of land backing on from Alfie Byrne Road, so the water should be relatively OK, but I'm not convinced I've ever seen anyone swimming there.

Concerns would be around whatever is flowing untreated down the Tolka as well as whatever might be flowing out surface drains from the Fairview area into an body of water that doesn't seem too active. I've recently started swimming off Seapoint & Fortyfoot when working from home and I gather the water quality there is reasonable, and at least if I see other people swimming there it's an indication that it's good enough.

It would be tidal for a start so the times when you could swim would be limited. Far better to spend a few minutes going to the Bull Wall (over the wooden bridge) where it is relatively clean and you will get enough water at all stages of tide. Looking at the area around the mouth of the Tolka at low tide I dont think i would chance it and as you say yourself you never see anyone swimming there.
Also if you are going home across the EastLink a detour to Half moon on the South Wall may be an option to get a swim on your way home (or on your way in if you are especially keen!!!)
