sheep rollover crate

    i bought a odonnell rollo over crate and its a prick of a thing it wont hold the sheep tight enough and when i turn them they are slipping out if it and also it opens when the ewe is on her back.



    does anyone have simular problems or deal with these crates


    are the wm ironworks ones better ???

    not at all they are suffolk cross ewes but like no monsters in it !!!

    have a wm ironworks best investment ever. handles 60kg lambs to 130kg rams no prob. saves the back and alot of time

    I posted this link in a different context (to show how lambs are handled at slaughter).

    Has anyone experience of using conveyor-based systems for handling/turning over sheep.

    One for the bigger units, obviously, but it looks very slick.

    thanks ''jtex'' eh its worth the few extra pound so does it close right under the sheep or is there still a space.... tis is the prob with the odonnell the sheep can slide out of this space

    closes in from one side, height adjustable as well as the spacing between the bars for behind front shounder at at flank. One thing that might slip around in it are freshly clipped sheep.

    right like the ewes were clipped in may and they are slipping out of the odonnell so dont know about keeping it

    900 i paid v dear but waste a time buying a cormac (700) or a odonnell (600)....better off putting it towards a new back !!

    Hi lads
    Heard about a two lads in south kerry who came up with some sort of idea that raises sheep up to a working level, to save your back while working with sheep! Don't know much about them, but I've heard it's meant to be a fairly good idea, just a thought for ye. ewe-raise me up is meant to be the name of it, check em out might be worth a look!
