I just decided to give Opera a go as I heard about it's cool "Turbo mode"... but when I turn on turbo mode it actually makes it slower. Does this happen for anyone else?

By the way, I don't have any need for turbo mode, my internet is fast enough. I just wanted to try it out. But it just seems a bit thick that it would make everything slower...

Turbo mode works by downloading pages to the opera servers, compressing them and then forwarding the compressed page to your browser, this incurs and overhead, and while it will make dial-up and gprs access quicker, if you have a modern DSL connection > 3Mb even, then the overheads of "Turbo Mode" will actually make page loading slower...
