    Hi all,
I'm hoping some of you guys might be able to help me out. Years and years ago I uploaded some home movies to YouTube and various different video sharing websites. I have since lost the hard copies of these but can still find them on YouTube etc. I can download them from YouTube to my computer using real player and they save on my computer as a .flv file. What I'm looking for is a programme that will write these files onto a blank DVD disc so I can watch them on mine (or any) DVD player and watch them again. I'm not great with computers so a programme that makes the process as simple as possible would be great.
    Thanks in advance guys.

Before you encode your flv's use the site below to see if there's a higher definition version available.
Copy & paste the url from youtube & it will give you the option.

Just a quick one, Im burning old Ireland games onto DVD to back up, Ive tried Nero and a few other Burning software programs but these will still not play on PS3. Is this normal? They work fine on laptop but I want these to be able to play on DVD players. Any ideas?

You will need to re-encode the video files to DVD-Video format. Check out the above tool I linked DVDFlick, this will do most formats perfectly and its free, if it fails try ConvertXtoDVD linked above, not free but more relyable.
I think the PS3 may support other formats aswell as DVD, but thats probably limited to Divx/Xvid formats, usually contained in .avi files. converting to DVD is probably the easiest option. Also in the recording software make sure the discs are finalised

These are already in DVD format Video_ts etc. These are not .avi or any sort of windows based file extension. This is what I cant understand.

What brand of DVD are you using? Are you sure the discs are being finalised? Try burning with convertxtodvd (can actually burn DVDs free for ever, click action>already converted project), just point it to the folder containing the audio_ts/video_ts folders.
Sometimes crappy DVD discs cause problems in standalones, try also burning at a slower speed, if the media is rated 16x/ burn at 8x, 8x burn at 4x etc.

Yeah I made the schoolboy error of not checking if it was DVD+/-

I think the problem lies here, cheers buddy

That doesnt make much difference, although you should try use a DVD+R/DVD-R and not a RW disc. The strange thing is I think the PS3 would support reading RW discs...

It could be a DVD Burner problem, it may simply just need a firmware update, let me know the details of the media you are using (Brand, speed, manufacturer) and I can advise further
