PAYE refund - Revenue taking ages

    Hi

Anyone know of a way to find out what the response time from Revenue is? I am waiting 6 weeks for a refund and told it could be another 4 weeks!! Who knows it could be longer.

I submitted self assessment for 2010 to collector general office limerick and am due a large PAYE refund as I paid emergency tax at the end of the year.

The office where it is being processed in Limerick apparently don't take calls, so no one in Revenue can find out what size of a backlog they are dealing with

    wtf

That sounds strange. I had a PAYE refund this year within 3 days of filing. Can you call your local Revenue Office?

Self assessment you say? So you filed a form 11 then?

And if so was it by paper or online? Because it couldn't / shouldn't possibly take that long to process online... If by paper then god knows how long it'll be.

TBH though (and I don't mean to be smart) if you were in a hurry for it you could have applied for it much earlier in the year...!

    yep, a paper form 11.

spoke to revenue again. they said online submissions are dealt with immediately.

i messed up there not submitting online.

now, its just frustrating not being able to find what response time to expect

Ah yeah that explains it, I'd imagine the rationale is that if it takes you ten weeks longer to get a thing sorted when you do it by paper, then it incentivises use of the online systems... ;)
