Hey, I very recently built a PC and now I need to transfer the files from my old mac to my new PC.
My mac runs on OSX Tiger and my PC is windows 7 home.

Its quite a large transfer (around 200GB) and so I can't do it with USB flash drives as it'll take forever!

I'm trying to transfer it over the network but it doesn't seem to be working. Can any of ye help me here on how I can transfer files from my Mac to my PC over the internet or ethernet network. Thanks!

I don't know much about Macs, but is there some kind of file splitter available?

Maybe a file compressor could work. Winxip and Winrar on the PC can make multipart archives, and have the option to not compress. Maybe there is some compatible software for Mac.

Another option occurs to me, make a torrent on the Mac and add the LAN address of the Mac to a torrent client on the PC.

200GB sure is a big file, what is it ?

You probably need to change some Sharing options on Mac and/or PC. Is smb sharing enabled on Mac?

Its pretty much everything in my Mac's harddisk. Music files, videos etc.

Anyway, I got it working. I had everything backed up in my external hard drive which was formatted to be used on the mac and so my windows PC wasn't recognising it. But I found this software called MacDrive which makes windows recognise mac formatted drive.

And I got my mac back up drive to be recognised by windows and managed to copy everything from the drive onto my PCs hard drive.

    So that's that sorted!!
