“Within the world of indie rock, he's carved him a niche all his own with clean but inventive production and lyrics that spend much of their time in the heads of unique characters” – Pitchfork

“John Vanderslice is one of the most imaginative, prolific, and consistently rewarding artists making music today." - NPR

John Vanderslice, a peerless storyteller and producer extraordinaire is one of the true hidden gems of underground music and he returns to Dublin for an intimate and not-to-be missed show in the magnificent surroundings of the Dublin Unitarian Church on Stephen’s Green on Friday September 30th

Lyrically, JV's characters and storytellers track Manifest Destiny from burning wagon wheels to two-bedroom homes with full amenities in Bakersfield, California. Along that rough road there are bewildered commemorations, peace-lovers and revenge-lusters, psychotic reactions to unnamed episodes and the grief-stricken and the vengeance-hungry wrapped up in the same skin.

The newest entry into John Vanderslice's deep and undeniably remarkable catalogue is White Wilderness, and it's a record like no other he's made before. Here are nine new and wildly impressive JV songs captured live over three days in a unique collaboration with the Magik*Magik Orchestra, a collective of classically trained musicians in the Bay Area led by artistic director Minna Choi. Recorded in San Francisco, White Wilderness was produced by John Congleton, whose resume includes albums by St Vincent, The Walkmen, Explosions in the Sky, Bill Callahan and many more. The results are simply stunning and White Wilderness is a breath of fresh air for JV as well as a pivotal landmark in his stellar career.
