It would be interesting to know.

I have been approved for btea this year but i also work about 27 hours a week to pay bills, rent etc and i am hoping that the grants office will pay my registration fee!

I didn't realise you could get BTEA and work!

I was hoping to apply for the BTEA but I was told I can't because I am doing a Masters! :(

I am paying my fees myself and hopefully will get it refunded via a grant.

I don't think you can get BTEA and a grant at same time.

Yeah you can work with btea once it doesn't effect your full time student status, and no if you get btea you don't get a grant unfortunately.

I work 15 to 20 hours a week in the evenings to fund myself. don't qualify for grant but don't get any support from my parents either. they live abroad so don't even get a nice homecooked meal on the weekends either. :( its tough but if I ever do graduate its something I can really be proud of. money isn't everything.

I will probably take on more hours too, rent in the city is unreal.

My dad has agreed to give me 2000, i've worked all summer (although half my pay was spent on rent/bills/living expenses), I get a grant and will work weekends. Weekends will pay my weekly living expenses, the grant covers my rent and the 2000 will be needed for clothes, weeks where im short on money, books, oil and bills

Wish i could get some cash to set aside.

What about banks that offer student deals, overdrafts and that??

Is it a good idea or bad??

nobody is doing overdrafts anymore except for Ulster bank @ €650.

AIB are doing overdrafts for students with the student plus account. Interest free up to €1500. After €600 you will need a guarantor. Also, Bank of Ireland still do overdrafts for their students but I believe you have to pay interest on the money you are paying back so there aren't really any deals with them.

For me, my grant covers most costs, sometimes I'm left short and have to borrow from my parents. Starting to look for part time work so I have that little extra money.
