Breaking other peoples' property

My friend inadvertently broke my ipod the other day by handing me a bottle that she hadn't closed properly. I put it in my bag and lo and behold, there was liquid all over my ipod. It's not working.
I feel angry about her carelessness and feel she should make up for it somehow. Do I have the right to feel like this? If you break something belonging to someone however accidently, should you have to make amends?

    She didn't break it.

You didn't check the bottle before you put it in your bag.

    That's kind of your fault...

I think you inadvertently broke your Ipod because you didn't check the bottle.

You have the right to feel anyway you want. As does your friend.

So don't be surprised if your friend thinks you're a cheapskate for making her pay for something which was down to the 'life sucks sometimes' law.

if she is hot, let it slide an there may be a chance for sexy time.

On the one hand, I know I should have checked. But I had been drinking and my friend hadn't. I asked her to fill the bottle for me. I just feel like I can't trust her. However stupid that may sound, it's how I feel.

That would be really, really stupid, for the record.

She didn't close it properly, cos she assumed you wanted a drink!!

    Your fault, not hers.

I know it's my fault. But I can't help being angry at her. However slightly. Maybe I'll just avoid her until I cool down.

You could always pour some water on yourself. Seems to have done the trick with your ipod.

You can't trust her?? What are you on?

You'd been drinking, asked a sober friend to fill up a bottle for you. She fills it and hands it back to you. You then put it in your bag without checking if the lid is on and you think it's her fault?? So very wrong.

That comment is about as stupid as the original post considering they still produce them, with the models evolving constantly. And it's the most popular media player ever created.

    Popularity means nothing.

You'd be doing her a favour by ceasing contact with her.

But I can't help being angry at her.

If we had a raised eyebrow smiley I'd use it here. You've no reason to be angry at her.
