Which do you think is the strongest going by these pics?

    Thanks

i dont think it matters a whole lot if you hit the right stone in the wrong way they can all get damaged (as i recently found out :()
we have had to fit a new shin piece on ours last year, it really depends on the ground your in - the more stoney it is the faster it will wear only did 30 acres this year and it was getting bare
i found that it was more important that the disc was cutting right and that the plough was far enough out behing the tractor (for droping into drains)

R & M would be my choice. Seriously good build quality!!

    Hello all,
Have been looking at some single leg mole plough/subsoilers.

I've seen 3 (but not in the flesh):

    2) Bridgeway

    3) R & M:

I know they are all good makes but its good to get some opinions!

    Thanks

    Thanks lads,
yep the K&M one is cheaper than O'keefe as well. The only difference I can see, there is more metal in the okeefe in the actual frame.

I bought a big heavy duty subsoiler off ebay uk a few months back. Have it converted into a single leg mole plough in recent weeks. It would put any of those 3 to shame :D Just waiting for a bit of dry weather to test it out!

Afraid it'd pull the ar*e off that T5050 of yours Reilig?!!! :D Only joking.

We'd a contractor in with a large valmet and got it hard to pull a single leg in some of our stonier ground. I don't know what tractor you'd need to pull a twin leg.

Rohan engineering in Adare in Limerick do a seriously strong mole plough with spring disc. They advertise in the farm and plant a lot

Well westlander did you purchase that time?

R&M would be my choice also. Like the design with the digger tooth.

€1550 incl VAT is what I was quoted off a local agent for them here. That's just bog standard (with mole). Wings if you want them, are 150 yo yo extra.

A lot of money, but nothing but secondhand muck on donedeal. I'm just thinking of the headaches of having to find wearing parts for them down the line.

    Well Muckit,

I went for the o'keefe in the end. 500 a lot of money extra but a few reasons for staying with that.

    - stronger frame on the okeefe
    - cat 215 instead of cat 205 on the R&M for the actual tooth on the mole.
    - the wheel wont get warped by stones because if you look at it it has a round piece of metal either side of the disc when its cutting to keep it steady.
-actual mole leg is 5 mill thicker than the R&M

warranty seems to be a long time..if theres ever anything wrong with it he will come back and fix it..thats how sure he is of it (5 yrs +)

he seems a nice man to deal with..not your typical sales type lad who tries to push it on you.

There is also a metal shin that wears on this mole plough but when you have it worn out you can turn it upside down and use the other side.

Is this the one you have Westlander, or have they a newer model?

Thats the one muckit. The design has not changed. Only thing is he doesnt supply the rollers any more as they were closing up the mole and it wasnt getting a chance to dry out as good. As for wearing parts if you give him a ring he will deliver the parts as he is always travelling about either selling mole ploughs or dropping off parts too customers so he told me.

Some pictures never do justice...not only mole ploughs but other things as well. You have too see them in the flesh for yourself. As for R&M you mentioned an agent. If you ring up R&M themselves they might give a cheaper price! I nearly had the R&M one bought he was giving me a good deal at the time as he wanted to get it sold but went with O'Keefe in the end. Sure you pay your money and take you're chance ;)
