I want a potted plant to stand in the corner of my sitting room. What sort would look nice and easy to care for? It doesn't have to be anything fancy and I don't want a cactus.

What have you got against cactus? you can get many that are not spiky as hell and if looked after right they will produce some of the most amazing flowers youll ever see. fair enough they might only last for a day or two but amazing still.

Eh,well she may have pets and/or young kids too.

So having a spikey plant would be more of a danger and headache in the end

Well i did say you can get ones without shatp spikes.some have very soft fur on them or are even spinless. I just dont think they should be dismissed so quickly.

Hmm well it's not so practical as that, it's more that I don't think it would match the rainy view outside my window. Not keen on getting spiked either though.
I had a green leafy plant in mind, I'm not sure what they're called but they grow quite big and the leaves are shiny and shaped a bit like a hand. There's no flower on them though. They are kind of common, you see them indoors all the time, but I've no idea what the name is.
