    Hi all.

having sorted out finance (know how much i can spend following the sale of my e46), i am now on the lookout for an e90.

    However i have a query

I need an SE spec minimum as i need to have parking sensors (small parking space etc). However, looking online, different SE's have different other specs (ie, bluetooth, ipod connection,...)

is there a way of knowing what specific options a car came out of the factory with? some SE's might have cloth, others leather etc,

is it by VIN?reg number? is there a way of checking that online somewhere whats included in that particular car?

    (btw, the more the better!!)

Unless you check them yourself or know a friendlt BMW employee that can do a search on the internal system to throw up the original spec sheet.

most options are visiable, so just look at the pictures.

PDC - whether front or rear you will see in pics.
Bluetooth - a bit harder to spot in pics, you pop the armrest and theres a cradle there
    Leather - verified in pics
Xenons - verified in pics as total different headlight unit to standard halogens
Sun Roof - visiable in pics
USB/Logic 7 - hard to spot in pics, could be in glovebox or armrest
Heated Seats - buttons visiable on centre console in pics
Privacy Glass - visiable in pics
Alloys - visiable in pics, whether there standard or upgraded will depend
Spolier - visiable in pics also, whether upgraded MSport spoiler or M3 lip spoiler will depend

If the car has bluetooth or factory sat nav (or DAB) there'll be a fin on the back of the roof. The cradle in the armrest is actually a phone-specific extra.:)

Even if there isn't a cradle for the phone, there's a blanking plate over where the cradle goes though.

I think the Shark Fin became standard on all models at some point. Possibly the 08 facelift.

    thanks

its going to be an 05-06 car at the most, finance and all.

basically the PDC is for my wife when she is getting my car in the parking space, and not smash her car which is already in there..

    :D

thanks, will keep an eye out for those things mentioned when i view the cars

The fin is not a give away though! Most BMW dealers now fit this fin as a fashion item im afraid :(

Also the bluetooth cradle will still be there, it comes as standard but the specific phone clip inserts are the extra.

yes the plugs and cradle recess is there, just not a specific phone shapped insert, thats the extra that the customer must buy afterwards.

I looked at an e90 today and unfortunately, i got to the dealer really late (just before 6pm) to really get my teeth into it. He was in a rush as well, so i wasnt quite happy with what ive heard.

Its really nice, a few paint chips on the left side, one on the bonnet only and the interior is all right.

However what is niggling me is:

it comes with a full service history from joe duffy motors (where it was orginally bought) and has two owners.

the dealer is not sure where the car came from??? he bought it together with a lot more (That is one BIG thing that is bugging me). he says its not ex fleet as its got 2 previous owners.

The mileage has been properly recorded. He is not sure what work was done on it before or what the specs are. It comes with 3 keys (2 fobs and the spare key, which would need a fob as well to slot in).

He was not sure of the exact specs, it has a shark fin, and has LED door lights, cloth interior, dual climate control, cruise control, but the one thing i cant figure out, is whether it has bluetooth or not. it also has an AUX in 3.5mm hole in the glovebox, but i cant confirm if that is properly working or not, or if its on all models, with some not being connected. did not have a button to retract mirrors.

Is there a way to ring Joe duffy and ask them what work was done the last time?it was a big service at 111 000km it seems (lots of ticked boxes) and maybe what specs the car carries?

The guy is only offering 3 months warranty with engine and gearbox only, i clearly asked about bumper to bumper, so thats another thing on the "oh dear" list.

What would people think?is there a way to get the car's history with the reg number or car identifier number? (which is in the service booklet - i couldnt get the chassis number due to limited time).

Problem is, there are not many well specced e90s floating around for under 10k. dont mind if its 06 or 05, but has to at least have some history to back it up. (And no silver/red) colours.
