    Hi,

Got my home button fixed and a new front screen and now, after a complete system restore, I seem to have a pretty common problem whereby the screen freezes and works half the time. Pressure the standby button (to lock the phone) normally unfreezes it, but the phone is freezing alot.

When I am in calls sometimes I cant get the light back onto the phone (so I can use Keypad etc , like for automated calls where you need to dial 1 etc.

Sometimes I cant even answer calls as the bar wont slide over!

I am out of warranty and in trouble as this problem is not getting any better.

The guys who repaired the other things said it could be the digitiser (that will cost €70 to replace or the mother board (which could be hundreds).

I have already spent €100 getting other things fixed up and beginning to think it mihgt be a money pit. Any tips or advice or anybody experience this prob would be appreciated.

The digitizer is in the screen of the 3gs. So if he "replaced" the screen like you said than he changed the digitizer, no other way around doing it. Could be a piece of s*it put in. Would defo try a restore again, but in DFU mode(google it) this time. When the screen freezes does the phone? So say if you have music on does the music stop? Or does the music stay on and the screen just stop?

Sounds like a faulty digitizer installed, make them replace it free of charge, and €70 is a very expensive price for replacing a digitizer

When I say he replaced the screen, I mean he replaced the front panel (dont think its the screen per say).

I have done restores and the phone works only ok when I uninstalled all my game apps.

When I am on the phone it starts pressing buttons and muting calls.

Phone works fine apart from this freezing and erratic behaviour. I would hope that its just this digitiser problem and not something like the motherboard!

The front panel is the Digitizer.
This is definitely at fault, and if it's pressing buttons when your on the phone the installer has broken (or there is excess glue blocking) the proximity sensor.
I fix between 2-6 screens/day and the odd time you will get a faulty digitizer, some cheaper ones this is more common than not
