East Cork course recommendation

    Hi all,

Io recently got some good feedback about gold courses in Waterford, only for the hotel (Faithlegg) to stiff us, having said they fdouble booked our party (basically got a big booking in for the whole place and got shafted), anyway, party of four (two golfers) has moved to Cork instead.

I'm playing Castlemartyr on Friday 16th Sept as I presume this has a good golf couse.

Then staying in Dungarvan Sat, so looking for golf on the Sat 17-Sep.

I have feedback (below) from other thread on the 3 courses in Dungarvan, however wondering if any of the East Cork courses are any good as travelling from that direction, e.g. Yoghal, East Cork, Water Rock, Lismore (in Waterford) etc.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=73277414

Anyone familiar with these courses and the Dungarvan couses and offer any opinion on best for golf, also any opinions on Satlemartyr for golf?

    Cheers!

Of those I've only played Water Rock, it's a nice track, doesn't pretend to be anything fancy, fairly enjoyable to play and isn't woefully unforgiving. Signature hole (par 3 12th, I think) is very difficult though, better off playing it as par-four.

Castlemartyr very nice, you'll enjoy it

Castlemartyer is a nice pleasant course, but you will find it quite short.
Fota GC is worth enquiring for a deal.

As mr mickels said, try Fota for a deal. Other than that the 3 Dungarvan courses are superior to the east cork courses listed. Dungarvan, west Waterford and gold coast would be my order of preference.

East cork is very short & busy at weekends, Lismore is a 9 hole, youghal is ok but some poor holes, waterrock is grand, depending on the tees you play. Up to me I'd stick to Dungarvan, maybe even try Tramore.
