    Why? I had an ancient 45 year old tumbler dryer that wouldn't die but it got left behind somewhere a few years ago. I should imagine most washing machines didn't last as long and probably ended up in the recycling years ago. :)

    I restore them and keep them as a hobby.

    Most washing machines today last about only 5 years but the machines above and their sucessors would last for upto 10 years or more!
