Are there any members here from the Arklow GC? Thinking of joining up but i would like to know what the situation with the club itself, financially and competition wise.

Was thinking of a 5 day membership but there don't seem to be any single s/f open comps during the week, would that be right?

    Any info would be appreciated...:)

    Hey

I've been a member since the start of the year. Have also dropped 4 shots 15 to 11. It's an amazing test of golf standard scratch usually ranges from 31 to 33 points.

There are no opens on during the week. Sunday comp every Sunday. Need to be on the computer at 7 on Friday. Fills up fast.

Financially I think we are better off than most around.

Food is great in the bar and everybody is very friendly. I joined by myself and didn't know anybody so I go out in random four balls and the lads are always sound.

Played the Junior scratch cup down there during the summer and really enjoyed the course. I don't understand why clubs offer 5 day membership and don't have any comps on midweek.

Yeah thats a strange one. I presume its because clubs don't really want 5 day members. But cant understand why they wouldn't.

Perhaps a 7 day membership would make sense as i'm not that big into team comps or fourball s/f.

I'm very tempted! I live only around the corner and i would save loads of money on petrol.:)

For someone working mon - fri what is the point in a 5 day membership?. Is the purpose just go get/give someone a handicap?. Is that it?. I can only play saturdays and sundays (unless I take hols say) so what good is a 5 day membership, I don't get the point?.
