    Hi,

I'm a mac user but I have to get a windows laptop for work. I really didn't think it would be this much hassle. I know I need windows pro for the network. I can compare specs but all the models confuse me. Everyone I speak to says oh don't get Toshiba/dell/Sony/hp etc.

    All I want is
    4GB RAM
    320 GB HDD
    i3 processor

and I would like 17" screen but accept 15".
Work will order me a Toshiba satellite pro c660-1nr but if I found something else I could just get that and be reimbursed. It looks like a grand computer to me and like I said if I found a 17" at a similar price I'd get it but there always seems to be someone saying don't get ..x.. brand.

    Thanks for the help.
    Paul

    I have a 17" Dell laptop that I bought 4 years ago.
The problem is the size and weight - if you're going to be doing a lot of travelling - its a pain.

Next time I will be getting a 15" - saving my back and the battery power.

I know some people who swear they would never buy a dell, but they have gone through a couple of laptops in the meantime??

    Personal choice really.

Let work buy you the computer. You'll find a bad report for every manufacturer out there.
At least if work have done the selection & purchasing, if there're any issues with reliability they'll be doing their best to help you out instead of wondering "why did we let him buy his own laptop?".

    Best advice by far.
