I own a 98 Passat 1.9 TDI and a week ago the 2 front electric windows stopped working at the same time. I checked the fuse which according to the manual is the same fuse which works the electric mirrors and the mirrors are working fine .
Has anyone had any experience with this problem or could give any advice if its a small fix before i take it to a garage.

Could it be the switch itself in the drivers armrest? Theyre fairly flimsy construction and ive changed a few that have had water ingress into them causing corrosion on the connectors. Alternatively Id be inclined to say the Comfort Control Module under the passenger carpet can be temperamental when broken. These things are handy enough to check with a multimeter if you are tat way inclined

Same thing has just happened to my 07 Astra, I am definitely not mechanically inclined though so no idea how to check anything myself! Hoping it's just a blown fuse which I assume is easily fixed. Any idea how much that should cost to get sorted?
