Hi, I m not so mobile tech savvy but would need a bit more responsive web surfing and Google maps with navigation over Wifi and 3G could be much faster.

I was searching web and a lot of info about rooting, custom ROMs and radio update.. and Flash support, and apps2sd something? and even processor overclocking :O but.. I'm more confuse the more I read lol

Maybe someone could tell me straight, what is the fastest ROM and the most simple guide for Hero rooting etc upgrades?

or maybe someone could do it for me for small amount of euros? pm if

    Thanks,

    have a goosey through this

    http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/356-Guide-Newbie-Guide-to-Install-VillainROM-amp-FaQ

    http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/2054-HOWTO-install-1.4.x?p=22874&viewfull=1#post22874

i followed this guide and it worked out ok, to be honest it was worth it just to able to install app to sd card and to get rid of some of the bloatware that came with it and for the live wallpapers. Plus you put on APP quarantine which will block naps like twitter and facbook (assuming you don't use them)

The overclocking thing never worked for me, i tried it but it kept locking up i did a bit of research and aparantly the chips on them are very picky for overclocking.

Cheers for heads up, I actually might DIY this weekend if no one responds willing to fix it for me.

If no success then it's search ahead for second hand desire, galaxy etc

It's not possible to run Flash proper on a Hero. It had flash lite on it out of the box which will play video. Just to let you know that if you put a lightweight custom rom on it (would recommend Cyanogen) then it will not have probably have flash lite removed, and you won't be able to watch flash videos either anymore, just a heads up.

Flash works now with 2.1 but not heavy content, can't flash game for example - is it because of actual Flash Lite or because device has weak processor?

It works properly in Desire and Galaxy then?

Yep, it's the processor architecture. Is it something to do with v6 and v7 ARM architecture, I can't remember tbh

Thanks for help guys but I decided to go straight for the next gen droid and bought Desire 2.2 - fantastic thing btw.
Then.. Android fever got worst and bought Galaxy S II 2.3 the next day :)

Expect either of two to appear in adverts soon ;) but dunno which one to keep since Desire is upgradable to 2.3 also.. Performance difference is very small tbh.

I'd keep the SII - cracker of a phone!

Absolutely. And I moved to it from a Hero.
