It will probably be rubbish but shur if its got a bit of golf going on I'l watch it.

Not a chance it will surpass "The Greatest Game Ever Played" as the best golf movie IMO.

This golf movie (recently adapted from the book) is a much better option:

imo both look woeful. There hasnt been a decent golf movie for a long time. Books made into films never manage to convey the same story potrayed as the author wanted. Greatest game is ok but very disney and Bobby jones stroke is fine as a wishy washy bio pic and dont get me started on Bagger Vance:rolleyes:.

Seven days looks like the usual run of the mill americana guy too cool for small town but fines himself blah di blah...

As for the other one I want the 2.41 mins I wasted of my life back I used watching the trailer.

If I was to name a golf movie I would watch again happy gilmore would be it just to see his coach with the white wood glue on his wooden hand. Now that was funny sh1t.

Was I the only one expecting a documentary on BallyB or Waterville?

Watched this last night based on your recommendation (had never even heard of it).... and yes it is a bit Disney and underdog does good ... but still very enjoyable.. The caddie was the best bit, hard to see anyone use a 10 year old caddie in the US Open these days.

After hearing someone in the film refer to a "mashie" I looked this up today and previously all the clubs and different names. So I think will baffle the lads next week ... when I say "I reckon thats a good niblick"

    Woods:

    Play Club: Driver
    Brassie: 2-Wood
    Spoon: Higher-Lofted Wood
    Baffing Spoon: Approach Wood

    Irons

    Cleek: 2 Iron
    Mid Mashie: 3 Iron
    Mashie Iron: 4 Iron
    Mashie: 5 Iron
    Spade Mashie: 6 Iron
    Mashie Niblick: 7 Iron
    Pitching Niblick: 8 Iron
    Niblick: 9 Iron
Jigger: Very low lofted iron, shortened shaft

Mark Frost's book of the same name is a cracking good read too. Some fantastic biographic stuff on Vardon.

BTW to further confuse things Cleveland brought their own Mashie this year :)

No uk release date and not on dvd yet so your probably going to have to wait. Not meant to be about golf really anyway mike ,
Salon noted that the "bland Christian film squanders Oscar-winning cast" and questioned "why did these talented performers agree to appear in this piece of hokum?" The Guardian described the film as "headed for the long grass."The New York Times described it as "a stultifying hybrid of athletic instruction film and Christian sermon", while Golf.com questioned whether it was "the worst golf film ever made?"

try "The Greatest Game" as above or "Tin Cup" or "Caddy Shack " if you are looking for a golf fix ;)
