got a very dodgy call: anyone else get it?

    i got a call from somesone claiming to be from a property magazine last week. they wanted to do an article on works i previously done and future work i will be doing. They said that the work would be free advertisement.
    I asked how they had got my contact information and they told me it was off my brother and gave his name.They said that he said i would be interested. i rang my brother explained and he said he had been talking to no one on anything remotely similar.
    has anyone had anything like this happen to them. i tried call back the no. later on and got no reply. im i being sceptical or what sort of scam is this.

    That sounds very fishy.

    The real ones will give you full name, contact details, etc., without asking, and will usually just use the first call as an introduction and lead onto a face to face meeting for any interview.

    we have had this done already.... its legit (if its the same company)

    the way they work is that they encourage you to get local business you know to advertise on the page that your article will be in. They more advertising they get the bigger your article. I think we had a one page article in the end.
    im not sure of the catchment of the article or its readership figures...
