    I fucking hate it.

I play a few instruments. As a result, people think I care about their ukuleles.

"Tom, I found a new ukulele! It's expensive though :("
    "Really? How much?"
    "£40!"
Shut up you cunt. I saved £600 to get my banjo - it's more expensive because it's a proper instrument. Not a useless piece of wood that every special needs child strums to pretend they're a musician.

Jesus Christ, I hate people with ukuleles.

    Creepiest advert in the world.

If I started singing to a random girl in a train station, I'd be sectioned. She wouldn't fucking join in.

When I hear banjos I think of gap toothed red necks in bib overalls spitting into jars before engaging in a light afternoon of butt rape. When i hear ukulele I think of this

banjos are the coolest most versitile instrument known to man with the possible exception of uilleann pipes.

fúcking deliverance made everyone a damned philistine!

Try serenading a hot blonde on the Luas with uilleann pipes and see how much clunge ya get!

Deliverance? I was refering to the Longford banjo festival.

a few of my mates play sessions of the dart and the uilleann piper is a very very successful man with the ladies.

My ukulele cost 400 bucks and is an extremely versatile instrument. I have one instead of a banjo because I'm not a schmuck.

Ah the uilleann pipes are amazing. I only know one player - but I mean that in both meanings of the word.

I went out with a lady piper for a while. Her fingering was immaculate, wonderful air bag and could blow a golf ball through a length of garden hose.

I might've been able to tolerate the ukulele in moderation if it weren't played to death in every ad on tv, in twee, hipstery songs on twee, hipstery ads.

I also find it hard to take the instrument seriously when I see it: it looks like a child's toy guitar.

Still, at least the kazoo didn't take off after this abomination:

True :), but with a little more variety.
Now while I don't doubt that the ukulele can be used in a number of ways and convey different moods, most ads use it in identical-sounding songs, with a gentle strumming to give it a light-hearted, twee sound.

I don't blame the instrument, rather the songwriters and ad men.

Yup, exactly this. It has just as much an emotional range as every other instrument. "Whiskey Is My Kind Of Lullaby" is always a pleaser with any crowd and it sounds very sad.

Ive got a pocket uke, banjo. soprano, flea, fluke and concert. Im holding out for a resonator. I have no desire for a tenor or baritone. May as well be playing a guitar....... I already have 2 guitars!... (and a banjo...shhhhhh. Dont tell brummytom)
