Should birds be caged up. Especially wild ones who are caught?

Help with getting one free. Thee is a bird in my uncles house recently caught. How do I stage it that it was an accident. Eg the cage is outside andthe wind blew it down.

I believe it should be illegal to cage an animal.

Also can sliverback crows be caged legally to catch other animals.

I believe that caging should be a temporary stop gap on the way to eating an animal.

I don't know about silverback crows, but a woman should definitely be caged yes.

    Yes, they're very effective...

More seriously, I don't think it's so bad to cage birds. Most pet birds get much better treatment overall than they might get overall, and a lot of pet birds have never known anything else anyway and might struggle to survive in the wild.

Wait till uncle is out of sight
Take one paper clip, unbend one end and put a few kinks into it á la lock-pick.
Open birdcage door and release bird, leave the door open
Place paper clip just inside birdcage, near the open door.
    Return later with your uncle.
    Gasp at open birdcage .
Reach in and pick up planted paper clip and express fake disbelief.
Say something profound like "what a clever bird"!!!
Walk away, leaving uncle dumbfounded and wondering how a bird could untie a knot with a paper clip!

What about other pets? For some reason, any one who I've known that talks about not caging birds is OK with having a dog or a cat or whatever. Why are birds given a higher status? A dog will give you a wee cuddle when you're watching T.V or something, birds sh!t on you.

I don't like the idea of any animal being caged up unless it is for their own protection, or the protection of others.

    I wish I could fly.

There is a wild Hedgehog living in my back garden.

He doesn't seem to mind living in the cage I had made for him.

There seems to be more anthropomorphising of birds in captivity than other animals, I've often heard people say about birds of prey (used in falconry) its a shame that they can't fly, as if the birds get enjoyment from flying... Truth is they are quite lazy in the wild, they only fly to hunt, to mark territory, to migrate, to find a breeding partner and for a passage bird (up to 12 months old) to look for its own territory, the rest of the time they will perch to digest any food they have caught. Its the whole expenditure of energy vs reward, if they don't have to they don't waste the energy. Birds that are given a roost, and are regularily fed are very content to sit and perch. In most cases because of their routine of flying more regularly for food and their familiarity with humans, they actually fly more and at higher body weights than in the wild. In captivity birds of prey tend to be in a healthier and fitter condition than their wild cousins

I don't see a point to caging birds, they are supposed to fly around. With their wings. And feathers.

Saw some together today in a petshop. They looked pissed off and restless.

This could be passed off as real too, Crows are incredibly intelligent and have done things close to this in trials.

I plan to set up one of these experiments in my back garden.

Dogs are supposed to run around in forests eating rabbits. Let's set them all free! FUR POWER!! FUR POWER!!

Next on the agenda, we send all the cats back to Egypt.

Cats and dogs more than likely domesticated themselves for access to our food rather than being something we captured and forced to depend on us.

I wanted to talk to the parrot.

Also, I don't compare dogs and cats to caged birds. They are free to run around. Birds can do **** all.
