So I have been growing and trimming my beard for a year or so, happy out with it. But I do find I have a dandruff/itchy beard most times.

Now I see fella's around town with amazing looking straight shiny beards and makes me wonder, is there a shampoo or an ointment out there I could get to keep it looking neat and 'non-flaky' and clean looking?

    Anyone know what I mean?

    Thanks

Aqueous cream as a soap substitute then Bio-oil rubbed in once a day.

Make sure you don't wash the beard too often, every second or third day should be plenty.

Thanks for your reply Aria1 !
Would you know any shops in Dub that stock Aqueous cream? Never heard of it...

Bio-oil, I can get that in any boots I would think.

Aqueous cream is just a generic moisturiser/soap substitute. Boots have thier own brand stuff if you're going there anyway for the bio-oil.

The only prob with bio-oil is it's very expensive, I'm away to try a jojoba base oil instead. Loads of great help/info on the Beard Board if you've not been there already.

I normally use conditioner { for frizzy hair } on it a few times a week, best to not use normal shampoo or body wash since it can be to strong and make you beard rough and stringy.

Thanks for that, any type of conditioner you use?

Speaking to a friend about using bio-oil on the beard and she was saying prob best not to use it as the stuff stinks and might linger.... so a little put off by that.

Try olive oil or if you can find it, Jojoba oil. Only a few drops should do the job, the olive oil won't smell and you can wash it out with some conditioner after leaving it in for about 30 minutes. Jojoba oil can be put in before you go to sleep and should be absorbed by the hair and skin overnight so it won't leave you with an oily feeling beard. I've been told that boots should have it but I haven't looked myself.

Heard Bio-Oil was very similar to baby oil.
Might look a bit odd, big beardy fecker buying just baby oil though :P

Bio-oil certainly doesn't stink! Get a little off your friend and try it.

I've been trying to get pure jojoba oil, without success. I got a jojoba 'based' oil and it was pish. Way too greasy and didn't stop the skin drying anyway.
Olive and baby oil are the same imo, just too greasy.

Back on the bio-oil for now.

Delivery takes a week on average and only costs a couple of euros on the smaller parcels. I buy Thayers and Kiss My Face shaving gear there.
