Hello, everyone! I need to get from Maynooth to Ikea (Ballymun), Dublin 11 on public transport. I have already checked on Route Planner that I could get the 66/67 to Dublin City centre and change to another bus 140/13/13a, but it’s a fairly long journey. I am wondering if I could get there avoid going in to Dublin city centre. Thanks for your time!:)

Hi, you could get the train to Drumcondra then walk to Whitworth Road and get the (I think) 13 bus, or continue walking towards Phibsborough (10 mins) and get the number 4 which stops right outside the door of Ikea.

Easiest way is 66 to city and 140 out I'm afraid.

Just to note, the 4 does not stop outside IKEA, it's about a 10 minute walk to the entrance.

The most direct bus to IKEA is the 140 from O'Connell Street which leaves you at the pedestrian entrance. The 13 and 13A will also take you to IKEA but take a slightly longer route through Ballymun.

Train to drumcondra, the 13a stops outside the station, and terminates in ikea.

Many thanks to all of you!:) After I compared all the solutions, I'll probably take philcoleman's advice which take less time to get there for me. It take 30mins from Maynooth train station to Drumcondra rail station, and then walk to Whitworth Road to get 13/13a bus (according to google map 13/13a bus stop is very close to Drumcondra rail station). At last, the 13/13a bus will take 30mins from Whitworth Road to IKEA/Harristown (final stop).

I would like to say 'thanks' again to all of you who spent time to reply me.

I hope that the whole discussion is also useful for other people. ;)

Sorry to jump on your thread, but I found myself in a very similar situation. I just used WalkIt, a great free walking route planner that has a good website. You can print stuff off too, which is always helpful!
