Questions about the grant/fees/dropping out...

Okay so I'm currently in college, about to start my 2nd year in an English degree. I didn't apply for the grant last year, but I have this year and it's been put through etc so I will be getting it.

However, I'm starting to have some doubts about whether or not the course is right for me and if there's much point in continuing it. I do enjoy it a bit but I'm not passionate about it, and what career options there are don't interest me very much.

I know its a good thing to have a degree of any kind, but I don't know if there's much point in putting in so much money/time/effort into it just for the sake of having a degree.

I've always loved and wanted to work with animals but I'm not great at science and maths so I didn't get the LC points for becoming a vet or vet nurse so I just decided to do this English course that I had the points for and a bit of interest in.

Now I'm kind of considering not going back to college this year, and working for a year, and then next year applying to do a FETAC course in Animal Care in Bray which has links to UCD and Athlone IT.

The only problem is money. What would I have to pay were I to do that animal care course next year?
Would it just be the registration fee of around two grand or the full fees of around ten grand?
Would I still be able to get a student grant, seeing as I haven't actually ever got one yet?

I don't want to drop out of my course now only to be left without any other options.

I don't know if this is even in the right section but any help/answers would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

I don't the costs of that course are that much but Have you contacted BIFE to ask the costs of the course - could you drop into the Bray VEC adult to ask them for advice

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
