Are there any 'rules' in life?

Not to bring Ah hours down or anything with a serious topic :pac:
but are there any rules in life? ... Like in our daily lives we can encounter liars, cheats, users, manipulators, scum etc etc.

Life seems to be one big rat race. From the biggest of things, to the smallest of things. From the social standards? to even laws? The whole "nice guy finishes last" and all that. Like you could be decent and genuine and have nothing... be a crook and have it all.

So i guess this is a person question to everyone reading... do you live your life by rules? ... do you think there are any rules in life?

Sadly theres people in life who will try to f*ck with you on all 3.
I guess, hence the thread, I mean me or you could set our own rules. Like things that we would never do ... but that doesnt apply to everyone else. For example, i dunno, I could never flat out use someone. We're talking just using someone terribly then tossing them aside. No remorse. I couldnt. But many people can and do ...

So what are rules (again hence the thread) I set my own ethics but they dont really matter. Its kinda like being an over-all nice guy. You'd get used, taken advantage of etc ... So obviously that rule of being nice is wrong. If you get what I am trying to say. Im writing as I think :)

That doesnt exsist in this world... The mentality of tit for tat will just cause never-ending sh*t. my post isnt directed to you its a good mentality to have But people are "fu*k me? fu*k you!" ... From the serious to the petty. Its all oneupmanship.

I have that mentality. Problem is tho, alot of people out there who "will do onto you", can be from (A,) who you didnt do anything to them. or (B,) Do something much much worse than what should of been returned onto you.

I understand your attitude. But you got a headbutt and didnt do anything? ... I mean, not even to turn around and say a few words? ... if he was with some mates fair enough. can be seen as wise. But to walk away without saying a thing? With no disrespect, thats cowardly.

No one is saying you should run over with a bottle and jam it in his face. But he crossed a line. A personal line by hitting you. You should of walked back over to him. If a fight happened, it happened. There is a threshold of what we allow and dont allow.

think the trick is to try not become hard and uncaring in the process.

I kinda make up my own rules as I go along.

i have no problem with what you say:) you might've thumped him back or really hurt him.

he hit me once if he attacked me sure i'd defend myself but over one drunken headbutt which led him to fall over after ? tell me would you hit some one when there down?

I guess this is where forgive and forget comes into play.

I dont wanna be rude or get into another "useless debate" with another poster (whats the point like? its the internet) But Im not going to ignore you at the same time :(

    So, to be "forward"

1, i think said person didnt fall down out of drunkness after the headbutt. Im willing to bet that, although he was drunk as you say, you just walked away.
2, i've heard my share of cowards say "i only fight when i have to defend myself" as excuses - thats not a dig at you as I dont know you. However, its what cowards say.
3, to answer your question? if.. and thats if ( :pac: ) someone did headbutt me then fall to the ground so drunk? i'd pull them up and toss them hard to the ground again. I wouldnt fu*k them up. Im not that bad. I wouldnt kick them on the ground etc. But I got a head butt last year, it nearly gave me a black eye. Not to strong of a headbutt too. From the side type. Up close too. Inch up and I would of had a shiner for 2 weeks. At it was I only had a small cut under my eye. A headbutt is a powerful blow. Like a punch to the face. You dont stop assessing the damage. Am i cut? am i bleeding? black eye? broken nose? etc. You react accordingly.

If I punch your face, or headbutt you I am trying to cause you damage.

Thats fair enough every one is entitled to there opinion violent or not i just didnt see the point in causing more trouble with this guy/his mates bouncers etc when i was out having a good night?

one little incident wasnt going to ruin my night.

    but everyone is different

as for him falling i have no reason to lie to you

The 3 Fs I mentioned are probably more cornerstones of my life rather than rules to live by.
Bar the Laws of the Land, the only rules you can live by are the ones that work for you.
I would question the morality/rules of some people, judging by the way they choose to go through life. But I can't do much about it or them.
If you want a rule, I'll give you a rule and its Universal.
One breath in, One breath out.

Friends had the stupidest rules. I shagged a friend's sister and it was never an issue:confused:

If my best friend wanted to date one of my sisters I'd be far less angry than bemused in a sort of 'but remember what she did when we were 10' sort of way

Everything depends on circumstances. I hate rules myself and don't really like people following them every single day, which may lead to stupid and absurd actions sometimes.

I do what I wanna do, I need no rules to "think" for me to be a good man. Rules cause nothing but trouble and moral issues, when we have to resign from something we really want because "we have rules". Lets take a look at a few examples. Just the very first one I can think of - i.e. "I don't eat meat". Very good, respectable point , but imagine you are stuck somewhere in Africa due to the plane crash and all you can find to eat eat is meat, otherwise you starve to death - break the rule and use excuse or die. Or "really wanna kiss you, but it's our 1st date, and I have a rule that I kiss on 3rd"... Stupid.
