I have received some infromation from my club on a new result of changes to derogations under the birds directive that larsen traps are no longer an approved method of control for rooks and jackdaws.Has anyone heard anything about this or what does it mean in relation to trapping?

    Hello Ace 86.

It means just what you said no more rooks or jackdaws to be caught in larson trap but you can still catch gray crows and magpies.

I was talking to someone at the N.A.R.G.C today and they have heard nothing about it but i persume grey rooks would come under all rooks in general .

i would be thinking so but i'm waiting on proper clarification on it.I think they can still be shot if they are causing problems to crops and the like just not trapped, i think this came from the Irish society of cruelty to birds if such a crowd exist never heard of them myself to be honest.

    Hello Ace 86.

Grey rooks as you call them (grey crow) can still be be trapped in the larson trap and the black rook and jackdaw can be shot as you said but just not caught in the larson trap. I got this from a member of the NARGC national council.
