Hi all, have a slight problem with the slot that the charger goes into on the laptop.. The charger is perfect but when I put it in you've to move it around until it will work and it's very sensitive to movement. Is there anyway of fixing this? Or would I be better off getting a new laptop? Have this one over 3 years now.. Don't want a new one as I have alot of music and pictures on it! :)

    Hi,

What model is it? Some laptops have an easily replaceable DC connector (power jack).

Most that are easily replaceable, are just slide in and clip on connections.
If it is soldered to the motherboard, then the less wiggling you do, the better. Still replaceable, but not necessarily as easy as with the solderless ones..

The problem is with your DC input Jack and they vary in price on different machines.

Replacement part is generally anywhere up to €50 depending on your laptop model.

Fitting the part also varies but it depends on how capable you are with taking electronics apart.

    Post the model number.

Would most laptop shops be able to fix it?
    It's an acer aspire MS2253.

    Yeah, they would.

To be honest, i think you could probably do it yourself.

    Repair Manual (PDF)

    Video (Youtube)

DC Harness for Acer Aspire MS2253 Less then €15

You only need to remove the base panel (and possibly Keyboard to separate base..)
Google Acer Aspire Disassembly and you get thousands of results..

(If you find it a bit tricky, you can probably expect to pay up to €65 for it to be repaired. I would definitely not go above €70.)
