May be knee pads, some mats really burned.
    No submissions in wrestling.

You'll need a gumshield and, though it's not entirely necessary, a groin guard mightn't be a bad idea.

    It's wrestling?! Not submission grappling/BJJ?

    How do you win? Pins/holddowns?

Depends on the style, but a combination of pins, takedowns, reversals and if you amass a large enough lead you can win by technical superiority, tho that may just be in US collegiate folkstyle wrestling.

I know a bit about the rules, but not a lot. Hopefully someone else chimes in.

Steel bin or chair to the head usually do the trick in most matches I've seen.

There is scores for takedowns and pins, if the match goes the distance then the most points win.

A back pin can be deemed an automatic win if done right, for a front pin you score points.

Thats the best i can do!!

Ps, its worth noting there a many wrestling styles so rules and score will vary

@Be like Nutella, where do you will train wrestling?

On FILA website you will get wrestling rules:

@Cowzerp, an high amplitude throw give automaticly a win for the round only, need to win two rounds to win the bout.

Submissions (chokes in particular) are illegal in Freestyle and Greco, matches are won on points for throws, pins and reversals, or as RNO mentioned, a particularly foxy throw.

If your interested in Submission Wrestling pop into SBG City Centre, there's a class on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays thats suitable for beginners.

If your interested in just doing Freestyle or Greco the Irish Amateur Wrestling Association might be able to give you a few club recommendations.
